Ms. Fletcher's Summer Blog 2016June 22, 2016Today was the last day of school! Where has the time gone?!? It seems like just yesterday that we began our journey together in Room 303 and now my second graders are third graders! Today was a great day capped off with a fun picnic and yearbook signing. I was filled with many emotions. I'll be back at Mill Lake tomorrow to pack up for ESY (Extended School Year). To my second graders - I am so proud of how much you have learned and how hard you have worked this year. I am sad, of course, to say goodbye. It is not goodbye though, it is "See you later!" I hope you have a terrific summer filled with fun. Don't forget to read, write and practice your math facts! You and your third grade teacher will be so glad you did!June 23, 2016Nicholas and I went to Grounds for Sculpture today in Hamilton. Have you ever been there? It is a really cool place filled with terrific art and of course, sculptures! Nicholas especially liked the sculpture of Marilyn Monroe. Once you stood next to Marilyn Monroe on top of the subway grate, you could feel the air blow up, just like it did to make Marilyn's skirt fly up! So neat! My favorite sculpture was the one of two older ladies on a bench. As you can see, it is gigantic! Can you spot Nicholas in the middle of the two ladies' feet (bottom left picture). Hope you are enjoying the first day of summer vacation!
June 30, 2016What a week it has been! Nicholas' baseball team played five games in six days and won the district championship. They won the final game against Franklin 10-0. Now they're heading to the state tournament. Good luck Monroe!
July 4, 2016Happy Fourth of July! Hope everyone has a great holiday! We are so lucky to live in America, a country with free speech, freedom of religion and wonderful troops who protect our freedom. Hope you had a nice day with your family and friends!July 7, 2016Today is Mrs. Ginter's birthday. I was able to visit with some of my Mill Lake friends to celebrate Mrs. Ginter's special day. Here is a picture of Nicholas and me with Mrs. Cipolla, her daughter Kayden and son Angelo, Miss Paparelli, Mrs. Ginter and her daughter Sydney. What fun we had together! I am so lucky to work at Mill Lake with some wonderful friends! How many of you had Mrs. Cipolla or Mrs. Ginter for first grade?July 15, 2016My nephew, Brian III, who we call B3 is two years old today! We celebrated his birthday this past weekend with a Curious George themed party. My brother, Brian, and my sister-in-law, Christina, did a great job planning a great party for him. Nicholas and I bought him a Curious George stuffed animal which you can see in the picture below. Both B3 and George enjoyed the birthday cake! Have you celebrated any birthdays this summer?July 24, 2016They did it! Nicholas' baseball team won the state championship last night. They are now back to back state champions. Next, they will represent Northern New Jersey in the regional tournament where 9 other teams from five states (New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania) will compete. Last year, Nicholas' team won the regional tournament so they're heading back this year to defend their crown. Go Monroe! Are you playing any sports this summer?
August 8, 2016Wow! It's hard to believe that August is already here! Some of you may have gotten your letters in the mail about who your teacher will be this school year. I hope you are excited for the new school year! I am very excited. I have been busy teaching in the Extended School Year (ESY) program at Oak Tree School and after school, I have been getting ready for September. I went to Mill Lake last week to begin setting up. As soon as things start to progress, I'll post some pictures. How are you doing? You can always email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'd love to hear from you! Enjoy this beautiful day!
