     First Graders Should Know...


     
    Here is a list of things that your child should practice and know before entering first grade:
     
    Identify and write the letters of the alphabet, upper and lowercase and know their corresponding sounds.
    Write full name, first and last, using uppercase letters at the beginning only.
    Know your birthday: date and year.
     Know your address: house number, street, town, state, and country.
     Identify and write numbers 1-100.
     Identify and write numbers 1-30; count out a given number of objects (1-30). 
    Know and identify parts of a book.
    Know your phone number.
    Know your shapes: circle, square, rectangle, and triangle.
    Know your colors: red, orange, yellow, blue, green, purple, pink, brown, black, and white.
    Know your kindergarten sight words.
