Ms. Fletcher's Summer Blog 2017June 21, 2017Wow! Today was the last day of school. Isn't it hard to believe? It seems like just last week we started our second grade journey together in Room 303. Time flies! Today was a great day filled with a fun picnic and yearbook signing. I hope you enjoyed listening to "'Twas the Night Before Summer Vacation" and my favorite book for the end of the school year, "Last Day Blues". Today was a day of happy and sad feelings. I hope that you have a summer filled with learning and fun!July 4, 2017Happy Fourth of July!Happy Birthday America! I hope you are having a special holiday. We went to a barbecue and celebrated our great country with family, friends, hot dogs and hamburgers! How did you celebrate the Fourth of July? Did you see fireworks?July 10, 2017How was your weekend? How is your summer so far? Our weekend was filled with baseball games. Nicholas has been busy at camp and I have been busy teaching in the ESY (Extended School Year) program at Oak Tree. The summer weather has been great (except for a lot of rain!).Here are two pictures of Nicholas from one of his games this weekend. What activities are keeping you busy this summer?July 15, 2017My nephew, Brian, who we call B3 (because he is named after my dad and my brother and he is Brian III) has a birthday today! He is three years old. We had a great time celebrating his birthday together at a gymnastics party. In the first picture below, you'll see my brother, Brian, his wife, Christina, and the birthday boy. In the other picture, you'll see Nicholas and my nephew Andrew (who is having too much fun in the pit of foam cubes to look at the camera) having fun! Have you celebrated any birthdays this summer?July 24, 2017Last night, Nicholas and I got back from a weekend vacation! We went to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for his baseball tournament. It sure was a hot weekend! The baseball complex had three fishing ponds, a big playground, a trampoline and even a pool! Nicholas and his teammates played four games in twenty four hours and six games from Friday afternoon until Sunday. More importantly, they had a lot of fun on the beach, the boardwalk and in the hotel! Have you been to the beach or the boardwalk this summer? In the first row of pictures below, you will see Nicholas and one of his teammates fishing at the baseball complex, Nicholas jumping in the pool and then playing on the playground. In the second row, you will see Nicholas and his teammate hanging out in the hotel, Nicholas and I on the boardwalk and one of Nicholas' favorite rides on the boardwalk!July 29, 2017Congratulations to Miss Paparelli, one of Mill Lake's first grade teachers, who got married yesterday! We had a great time at the wedding with her and her new husband. Miss Paparelli was a very happy bride and it was great celebrating with other Mill Lake teachers. Do you recognize anyone in the picture below?August 6, 2017Welcome August! July went by so quickly! Have you seen any movies this summer? Nicholas and I went to see Despicable Me 3. Those minions are so funny! Nicholas had a red drink so that's why his teeth are red in the picture. I enjoyed the popcorn! We have been enjoying our summer with family and friends. Nicholas and I have also been reading so we can keep our skills sharp for September. Have you read any good books this summer?

ESY (Extended School Year) ended this week so I started setting up Room 303! Here is sneak peak at the hallway bulletin board. I loved getting to see your school pictures and adding them to the bulletin board. What a beautiful class!

We had a wonderful family vacation in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. The weather was beatiful and we had so much fun in the pool and at the beach. We also went shopping, played miniature golf, raced go carts and climbed to the top of a lighthouse. We were lucky to have our family together. In the picture, you'll see both of my brothers, their wives and sons, as well as parents and of course, Nicholas and I. Did you go on vacation this summer?
