Ms. Fletcher's Summer Blog 2019

Today was the last day of school. It's hard to believe that the school year has come to an end. We learned so much this year! I enjoyed reading "Last Day Blues". It's true that the last day of school makes us sad to leave our friends and room 303, but excited for all of the fun that will fill our summers! Here is a picture of Room 303 all packed up for the summer and a picture of Nicholas and me this morning before school.

Today, Nicholas and I took my nephew, Brian (who we call B3) to see his first movie in the movie theater. We went to see Toy Story 4! It was so great seeing Buzz, Woody and the gang together in a new movie. Have you seen any movies this summer?

Mrs. Lopez, Mr. Bowe and I went tubing down the Delaware River. It was very relaxing! Although it was hot out, we stayed cool and refreshed. We even packed our lunches and ate on the river. It was so nice to catch up with them and hear all about their summer adventures. Have you seen any of your friends from Mill Lake this summer?

How is your summer going? Can you believe how hot it was this weekend? Wow! It was hot just standing in the shade. It was a good weekend to be inside doing some summer reading. Nicholas had a baseball tournament this weekend. He's had many games this summer. Have you been outside playing sports this summer?

Last week, my friends and I went to a place called AR Workshop in West Windsor and we made wood projects. It was such a fun night. As you can see, my sign says "The Fletcher Kitchen". I can't wait to hang it on the wall. Two of my friends made cheese platters. One of my friends made a blanket ladder and the other one made a countdown to Christmas sign. I think all of our projects came out great and we had such a nice time talking and crafting together!

This weekend, we celebrated a special little girl's first birthday - Scarlett Borquist! Mrs. Borquist is my Mill Lake next door neighbor and it was a beautiful day for a her 1st birthday party. Happy Birthday, Scarlett! Have you celebrated any birthdays this summer?

Another weekend, another birthday! This weekend, we celebrated my nephew's birthday. His name is Andrew and he will be four years old on Saturday. We had a nice day with our family. Here is a picture of Nicholas with my nephews, Andrew and James, and another picture of Andrew sneaking a taste of the cake! LOL

Nicholas' baseball team won the Covino Tournament championship last night. Nicholas was the winning pitcher who pitched to ten batters in three innings. He didn't give up any hits and he didn't give up any runs. He threw some strikeouts and his teammates made great plays in the field to get many other batters out. It was great to see him and his teammates work together to win a championship game. My little brother, Michael, and my nephew, Andrew, came to watch the game too! Win or lose, it's great to see players cooperating and demonstrating teamwork, just like we do in the classroom! Congratulations to Nicholas and his team!

Room 303 is ready for third graders! I have been working to set up our classroom and transforming our library for third grade! I even got some help from Nicholas, one of his friends, and my dad! I can't wait until the most important thing enters the classroom - you! Tomorrow, Nicholas and I leave for a weeklong vacation to Cooperstown, NY for a baseball tournament. We are excited!

Our trip to Cooperstown was terrific! Nicholas and his teammates had a great time sleeping in the barracks, as if it was sleepaway camp! The boys played A LOT of baseball - nine games in four days.... and Nicholas pitched in five of them! We also had the chance to tour the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and enjoyed our time in downtown Cooperstown. Our trip was the highlight of our summer! I can't wait to see you on September 5th!
