Wearing A Mask Treatment Plan
This link includes a step-by-step plan for mask wearing.
Steps include:
-Caretaker wearing the mask first
-Have child listen to social stories/videos & then put mask on their favorite toy
-Have child interact with the mask without wearing it
-Have child put the mask on, and then immediately take it off
-Have child put the mask on, and slowly extend the amount of time they are wearing it.
Make sure to pair the mask with reinforcement by providing your child access to good things for wearing the mask, and while wearing the mask!

Webinar for Tolerating Mask Wearing
Below you will find a link to a 30 minute webinar detailing some best practice strategies for assisting our students in tolerating wearing masks. This is a very helpful video to watch as it begins by discussing different types of masks, as well as modifications that can be made to help relieve some of the pressure that masks put on our ears (e.g. wearing a headband with buttons, and clipping the mask to the buttons instead of your ears) before diving into teaching procedures for mask wearing.
