Wow! I can't believe that today was the last day of school. This year flew by! I am very proud of all of the students. Roomers and zoomers worked hard and were always so flexible. Sometimes technology was our friend and sometimes it was not, but we kept a growth mindset and tackled all of our obstacles. Remember that everyone makes mistakes. That's why we have erasers on our pencils. I hope you have a terrific summer filled with fun..... and some reading, writing and math practice, too!

Are you going to camp this summer? Today was the first day of ESY (Extended School Year) at Oak Tree School, which is where I work in the summer. We had a great first day and I am looking forward to more great days ahead! If you are going to camp, did you start yet? Are you enjoying it?

Our friends and family came over and we celebrated Nicholas' graduation from middle school. Next year, Nicholas will be in high school. Did you celebrate any graduations this summer?

On Saturday, we celebrated my nephew's 7th birthday. He will be starting second grade in September like many of you! We had a nice day with our family. It started to rain at night time. The thunder was loud and the lightning lit up the sky, but we were safe and dry inside. Do you like summer thunderstorms?

My niece, Charlotte, was baptized this weekend. She wore a beautiful gown made from her grandmother's wedding dress. We all enjoyed the day with our family. Here is a picture of my family - my parents, my brothers and their wives, my nephews and my niece. I am on the right and Nicholas is next to me. Have you celebrated any special occasions this summer?

We celebrated my nephew’s birthday this weekend. Andrew will turn 6 next week. He had a Star Wars themed birthday party and even though it was very hot this weekend, we enjoyed celebrating in the backyard. Spending time with family is one of my favorite things to do on the weekends!

Nicholas has been busy playing baseball this summer. He usually plays shortstop or pitcher. Do you play any sports? Have you played any sports this summer? What is your favorite sport?

We celebrated another birthday this weekend! My nephew, Joseph, turned three years old. Joseph loves to be outside and to play with his older brother. He especially loves watching Toy Story! Have you seen any good movies this summer?

Nicholas made the high school soccer team and he has been very busy practicing and getting ready for the season. The team practices six days a week! Today was their first scrimmage. They won 5-0 against Saint Joseph’s in Metuchen. I enjoyed watching Nicholas in action.

I can’t believe the end of August is here! I have been setting up the classroom, which is Room 303 in the second grade hallway. The student desks are ready and so are the bulletin boards. I have some more to do, but I can’t wait until September 9th when the empty room will be filled with students. It is going to be a great year!
