    Dear Kindergarten Families,

Welcome to Kindergarten! I am looking forward to an exciting new year with your child! I can’t wait to meet your child on Orientation Day on Wednesday, August 31, 2021. The AM session will meet at 9:30 AM and the PM session will meet at 10:30 AM.

We will be spending the first days together getting to know our room, school and each other!  Here are some important things to help start the year off right…

    Teacher’s name: Mrs. Wendy Roth
    AM Paraprofessional: TBD
    PM Paraprofessional: Ms. Jennifer Updale
    We are in Room 9

GOOGLE CLASSROOM:  Please make sure you join our Google Classroom. The link will be sent via email.  We will use Google Classroom as our main communication for our classroom. You will use your student’s Monroe email  account. Ex: wroth@students.monroe.k12.nj.us. You can find your students' login passwords and email address in Genesis.

     Friend Finder

Throughout the year, many parents ask for a phone number and address so their child can contact another child in the class.  I am putting together a “Friend Finder” so you will have that information! If you would like your child’s information to be included, please click the link I will send via email.  Just fill in the information that you want to share with the class.  If you do not wish for any of your child’s information to be shared, please select "NO" and it will not be shared.

Dress: Please dress your child comfortably and appropriately for school. We sometimes do some messy things and go outside! Please label all outerwear.
    Notices/class work:
Please make sure your child has a backpack each day with his/her name on it. It is also important to remember to empty his/her backpack and folder every day!
Your child will receive a Mill Lake Falcon folder. We will put all important school notes inside this folder.  Please place any notes for me inside the Falcon folder.  Your child will hand in the folder every morning. It is part of our routine to place the folder inside a bin as they unpack every morning.
Your child will also have a classwork folder. This is one of the folders you are sending in from home. This folder will contain any work your child completes during the school day. DO NOT put important notes or homework in this folder. ALL NOTES go in the Falcon folder.

    Day Care:
If your child attends a day care situation directly before or after Kindergarten, please send separate folders for that program. This will help you know which papers/projects were done in our class and will help your child with organizing and being responsible for his/her possessions. (Our folder is the Mill Lake Falcon folder!)
    Dismissal:
If there is any change in your child’s dismissal procedure, you must give me written permission.  Please do NOT email me a dismissal change. If I am absent, the substitute will NOT receive the information.  I must receive this at the beginning of the day so that I have time to send your note to the office. No changes will be made unless we receive written authorization from you. EMAIL will NOT be accepted. If dismissal plans change during school hours, please call the school office.
Snack: We will have a daily snack time. You may send a drink and a small snack. If your child attends ECE,  PLEASE keep the kindergarten snack separate from the ECE snack! Do not put the kindergarten snack in the same lunch container as ECE lunch. Please label the container, KINDERGARTEN SNACK.
This is not lunchtime. Snack is your responsibility. I cannot give out any food. Please ask your child what they would like for a snack and pack it together. Keep it simple. Please have your child practice opening and closing their snack independently. The more independent your child is, the easier it will be for everyone!

Please do not send any of the following items:
●glass bottles ●sippy cups ●cans or soda ●Capri sun or juice pouches (they are difficult to open)
Remember to send any utensils (spoons) needed for their snack. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

If your child would like to purchase milk, please send in CASH and exact change. I cannot give you change. Milk money for the month is due before the 1st of the month. If your child is buying milk for the month of September, please send it in by Friday, September 9, 2022.
    Monthly Milk Prices:
    September: $5.95          October: $6.30            November: $5.25
    December: $5.95           January: $7.00            February: $6.65
    March: $8.05                 April: $4.90                May: $7.70      June: $5.95

    MISCELLANEOUS:
Please let me know if your student goes by a nickname as I am currently labeling things for the classroom. You can email me privately.
All supplies can be brought to school on orientation day or during the first week of school. There is NO rush! Your child does NOT need a pencil box. I will provide one for each student.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR COOPERATION!
    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Roth
