Course Description: Drawing I is designed for the beginning artist as well as the more advanced. Basic design principles such as line, texture, space, value, shapes, basic shading techniques and perspective are taught. Work is achieved through the use of various drawing media i.e., pencil, charcoal, felt tip, pen and ink etc. Drawing assignments vary from still life to abstracts with the formation of an individual’s personal style stressed.

    Course Rationale: This course is designed to enhance the student’s aesthetic values. It exposes students to a variety of drawing activities, techniques and problems relating to the visual arts world.

    This course fosters sound visual, emotional and aesthetic values necessary to begin appreciating culture and beauty in the world. In addition, drawing is an important base step in many visual arts careers.
