Meet Mrs. BorquistThis is my fourteenth year teaching at Mill Lake School. I have taught Kindergarten for five years prior to teaching second grade. This is my ninth year teaching second grade and I am extremely eager to continue on this journey! I graduated from Ramapo College with a degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. I have obtained my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Rutgers University.
During my career, I have had the opportunity to attend a weeklong conference at the University of Virginia where I learned a great deal about differentiated instruction. More recently, I attended a weeklong institute on enrichment-based differentiated teaching at the University of Connecticut. I believe that each child learns differently and it is best to have a differentiated learning environment. I believe that students benefit most by learning in a healthy and safe classroom environment in which students are capable of growing physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
In my free time I love to spend time with my family and friends. I love being outdoors! I enjoy traveling. Some of my favorite places have been: Italy, Spain, Disney World, Disney Land, Alaska, Costa Rica and Ireland!
I will be available for questions and discussions through email, in person, or by phone. The best way to reach me is through email at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Your child will have a “take-home” folder for parent-teacher communication. This is another convenient way to communicate.
I look forward to a fun and exciting year!
