WHAT IS UNIFIED PHYSICAL EDUCATION (FALCON P.A.L.S.)?
- UNIFIED is a term used to discribe an inclusive setting that provides all students an equal opportunity to engage in the physical, social and mental aspect of the course.
- P.A.L.S. is an acronym for Peer Assisted Leadership Skills
- P.A.L.S. is a senior who elects to be a part of our Unified Physical Education program.
- P.A.L.S work within our Unified Physical Educaiton Class which consists of students who are nuero-typical and students with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities.
- Unified students work alongside each other to develop stronger physical skills sets, social skills and friendships through games and activities within a Physical Education Setting.
- Junior students who are interested in our program go through a rigorous application and interview process to be selected as Unified Partners or "PALS" for their senior year.
- Sophomore students are selected to be Jr. "PALS" for one marking period while the Senior "PALS" fulfill their state health requirement.
COMMUNITY BASED FITNESS "CBF"
- A Unified course for neurotypical seniors and students in the 18-21 year old TAPS program.
- Neuro typical Senior students who choose to take Senior Option (early release) can take an additional Unified Physical Education section as an internship or for volunteer hours.
- Community based fitness is designed to have students engage in various fitness activities in our community.
- Students will learn how to take advantage of the fitness opportunities that are offered in adult settings that they will visit once-twice a week.

- "CBF" Students will also be Core leaders of our Unified Partnership Program
- Visit Elemnentary schools to conduct Unified programs
- Plan physical activities for elementary students to participate in various schools in our district.
- Students will collaborate with Sr. PALS and assist younger unified students in physical activities

FALCON BUDDIES
- Sophomore/Junior students are afforded the opportunity to be Falcon Buddies.
- Falcon Buddies are peers who provide support and friendship within our high school setting.
- Our buddies help with the dynamics of lunch by assisting students with ordering lunch and various social aspects within the lunch room setting.
OUR GOAL...- TO PROVIDE EVERY INDIVIDUAL STUDENT THE OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE, BE ACTIVE AND HAVE FUN.
- TO IMPLEMENT ACCOMODATIONS AND STRATEGIES THAT PROVIDE EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION IN FUNCTIONAL AND DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE SKILLS WITHIN THE LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT.
- TO ENCOURAGE SPORTSMANSHIP, COMMUNICATION, TEAMWORK AND SOCIAL SKILLS THROUGHOUT OUR CURRICULUM
- TO INTEGRATE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS IN THE HIGH SCHOOL SOCIETY TO PRESENT AS HEALTHY ROLE MODELS WHICH SPAN PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIAL WELLNESS.

HIKING
STUDENTS LEARN MAP SKILLS, PACE, AND ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS WHILE ENCOURAGING LIFELONG FITNESS SKILLS SUCH AS WALKING, CLIMBING AND JUMPING.
PROJECT ADVENTURE
STUDENTS ENGAGE IN A MULTITUDE OF TEAMBUILDING, COMMUNICATION AND TRUST ACTIVITIES IN A SAFE NON JUDGEMENTAL ENVIRONMENT.
SOCCER
STUDENTS WILL EXPERIENCE THE BASIC RULES, REGULATIONS AND SKILLS INVOLVED IN THE GAME OF SOCCER. TEAMWORK, STRATEGY AND SPORTSMANSHIP ARE POINTS OF EMPHASIS.
YOGA
STUDENTS ENGAGE IN SPECIAL NEEDS YOGA, WHERE RELAXATION, STRETCHING AND STRENGTHENING TECHNIQUES ARE THE MAIN GOALS.FITNESS
STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO PERFORM DIFFERENT TYPES OF EXERCISES AND WILL WORK ON CARDIO VASCULAR ENDURANCE, MUSCULAR STRENGTH/ ENDURANCE AND KINESTHETIC AWARENESS.BOWLING
STUDENTS LEARN BASIC BOWLING SKILLS, ETIQUETTE AND SCORE KEEPINGWE HAVE AT FALCON LIFE REPRESENTED SPECIAL OLYMPIC TEAM!!!
BASKETBALLSTUDENTS LEARN HOW TO USE BASKETBALL SKILL SUCH AS DRIBBLING, PASSING AND SHOOTING THROUGH PARTNER BASED LEARNING, SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES AND GAMES.VOLLEYBALLSTUDENTS WILL BE TAUGHT PROPER VOLLEYBALL STIRKING TECHNIQUES AND STRATEGY WHILE ENGAGING IN INDIVDUAL AND GROUP ACTIVITIES.TENNIS/PICKLEBALL (INDOOR TENNIS)STUDENTS LEARN BASIC FORM AND STRIKING TECHNIQUES (GRIP, FOREHAND, BACKHAND) THAT MAY BE IMPLEMENTED WHILE PLAYING VARIOUS RACKET SPORTSTRACK AND FIELDSTUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN PROPER FORM AND ATTEMPT VARIOUS TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS.RECREATIONAL SPORTSSTUDENTS ENGAGE IN A MULTITUDE OF RECREATIONAL SPORTS WHICH FOCUS ON WORKING WITH A PARTNER OR TEAM WHILE DEVELOPING VARIOUS PHYSICAL SKILLS SUCH AS TOSSING, AIM/FOCUS, THROWING/CATCHING, AND STRIKING.FOR A LITTLE MORE INFO RE: UNIFIED PLEASE VISIT MS.
