💰 SENATE BUDGET & APPROPRIATIONS 🏛️
📣 Responding to the Proposed State Budget for Fiscal Year 2027 📣
ADVOCACY ALERT: Respond to the recently proposed state budget for the 2025 Fiscal Year. The New Jersey State Budget for Fiscal Year 2027 is currently under review by the Legislature, and community voices play a critical role in shaping the final budget adopted by the State.
Each year, the New Jersey Legislature conducts a series of public budget hearings where residents, organizations, and stakeholders can provide testimony directly to lawmakers about how the proposed state budget may impact their communities. These hearings are conducted by the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and the Assembly Budget Committee as part of the Legislature’s review of the Governor’s budget proposal.
🏛️ Why Your Participation Matters | Public testimony helps legislators understand the real-world impact of state funding decisions. The feedback provided by residents, educators, families, and community partners can help inform changes before the final appropriations bill is adopted and signed into law. In New Jersey, the final state budget must be approved by both houses of the Legislature and signed by the Governor before July 1, when the new fiscal year begins. What to expect:
📝 How to Participate | Residents and stakeholders can register to provide testimony during the upcoming legislative budget hearings. Participants may sign up to testify at a Senate or Assembly budget hearing, and individuals are generally limited to speaking at one hearing per committee.
-
Testimony is typically limited to about three (3) minutes per speaker.
-
Hearings may be conducted virtually or in person depending on the committee schedule.
-
Registration must usually be completed by 3:00 PM the day before the hearing.
-
Community members may speak as individuals or represent organizations.
Even if you do not wish to testify live, registering and submitting your perspective helps ensure legislators hear directly from constituents.
🤝 A Call to Engage | State budget decisions affect schools, community programs, infrastructure, and services that support our residents every day. Taking a few minutes to register and share your perspective is one of the most direct ways to participate in the policymaking process. We encourage all residents, families, educators, and community partners to consider participating in the upcoming FY2027 budget hearings and help shape the priorities that matter most to our community.

Equitable Funding & the Path to Full Day Kindergarten & Pre School in the Monroe Township School District
ADVOCACY ALERT: Support Equitable School Funding in Monroe Township | Monroe Township School District urges New Jersey policymakers to prioritize equitable funding that reflects the true needs of our students. Rapid enrollment growth, demographic shifts, and the lack of full-day kindergarten highlight the inequities created by the current funding formula. Join us in asking our legislators to restore senior citizen supplemental stabilization aid, ensure stability in state aid, and provide flexibility for local levies to sustain essential programs, including special education and transportation.
