Student Responsibilities
1. Wait for the bus in a safe place, well off the roadway. Do not approach the bus until it comes to a complete stop, the red lights are flashing, and the driver opens the door.
2. Never go behind the bus. If you must cross a roadway, always cross well in front of the bus crossarm. Make sure the driver can always see you.
3. Be at your bus stop at least 10 minutes prior to your stop time and allow 10 minutes after the stop time for the bus to arrive.
4. Enter the bus in an orderly manner. Proceed to your assigned seat, BUCKLE UP and remain seated throughout the ride.
5. When exiting the bus, do not get out of your seat before the bus comes to a complete stop at your bus stop.
6. Be on time after school. Once the bus begins to move, the driver will not stop to open the door for anyone.
7. The bus driver is in charge at all times and may assign or change a student’s seat as they may feel necessary for the safety of the students.
8. Eating, drinking, littering, throwing objects inside the bus or discharge of any object from the bus is prohibited.
9. Smoking/vaping is not permitted on school buses at any time.
10. The use of scented hand sanitizers, spray perfumes/colognes or any other substances with strong fragrances is prohibited while students are on the bus.
11. Students will ride on their assigned buses only.
12. Students will get on and off at their assigned bus stop only which is listed on the Genesis parent portal. No alternate stops are permitted.
13. Vandalism will not be tolerated. Students will be held responsible for damage and subject to disciplinary measures.
14. Students shall refrain from any action which could endanger others.
15. The school bus is an extension of the classroom. Rules that apply in the classroom also apply on the bus.
16. Oversize items that cannot fit on the student’s lap or completely under the seat {including band instruments} may not be brought onto the bus.
